This little Frog was created bit-by-bit early each morning at the dining room table in my cabin while I drank tea at sunrise. I was mourning the loss of my dear soul-mate dog Shiva. Just waking without her sleeping by my side, eager to begin each day with me was difficult. I decided to create a being whose simple presence would have the ability to cheer up…well…anyone.

Frogs inhabit the world of transformation, adaptability, renewal and leaping into something new…

I was mourning the loss of my dear soul-mate dog, Shiva. Waking without her sleeping beside me, beginning each day without the companion who had accompanied me everywhere, led me to the alchemy found in a small lump of clay. Somewhere in that tenderness, I decided to create a little being whose presence might simply cheer someone up.

And Frog did the same for me.

There was something about watching that wide-eyed face, wonderfully plump little body and ridiculous little butt emerge beneath my fingers each morning that brought delight back into my mornings.

Perhaps it was fitting that a frog found me during that time. Frogs inhabit a world of transformation, adaptability and renewal… equally at home between water and earth, little reminders that life is always changing and inviting us to leap into what comes next.

Each little sculpture is cast in solid bronze, individually finished and patinated by hand, so no two are exactly alike.
