Last year I shared the story of Munch being reborn in porcelain; a long-ago sold-out bronze finding an entirely new expression through a collaboration with my dear friend and master ceramist mold maker Jeremy Hatch.
This month, Munch stepped out into the world.
I donated this porcelain sculpture, along with one of my palm-size porcelain bunnies, to the Big Bend Fine Art Auction, benefiting the Livingston Center for Art and Culture. Before the auction, the works were exhibited at the Danforth Museum. I loved seeing this little luminous creature out of my studio and holding its own in a room filled with beautiful art.
Perhaps my favorite moment was seeing Munch nestled beneath the work of renowned painter, and absolute dear human being - Kevin Red Star.
There is something rather magical about seeing artwork leave the intimacy of the studio and begin having conversations with other artwork, other artists and new people.
